Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic Medicine has been a distinct healthcare profession for over 100 years. It blends scientific knowledge with the use of non-toxic, natural therapies to prevent and cure disease. Naturopaths (N.D.) are primary care physicians that are highly trained in physical examination and diagnosis. In addition, they are experts in Botanical Medicine, Clinical Nutrition, Homeopathy, Emotional Counseling, and Physical Medicine. Although naturopaths are licensed to prescribe pharmaceutical drugs, instead therapies focus on natural, gentle, supportive interventions that empower the patient to heal rather than suppress the symptoms of disease.
Naturopaths' treatments are individualized for each patient and are strongly based in the principles of naturopathy:
- First, Prevent disease
- Identify and remove the cause of disease
- Treat the whole person, not only symptoms
- Trust the healing power of nature
- Educate patients on health and wellness
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a 6,000 year-old medical art that uses the relatively painless insertion of fine, sterile pins at certain locations to ensure the free flow of the body's energy. Acupuncture is recognized by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to be an effective treatment for a variety of medical issues.

Reiki Therapy
Reiki is a century-old Japanese "hands on healing" technique of aligning and unblocking the energy flow of the body. It can create an experience of balance and well-being. This treatment can help facilitate the natural healing ability of the body, mind and spirit. It is such a relaxing and nurturing process where you are lying on a massage table fully dressed, while the practitioner works on the energy body. Clients have reported that they have experienced great results! Whether you are experiencing pain, have a disorder, or just need a pick me up this therapy is profound!
Energy Balance
This is a form of counseling recommended for those who are open minded and looking for a system that truly honors the mind, body, and spirit connection in any form of healing. Many elements may be combined to help find a balance in your emotional well being including but not limited to: Kinesiology (muscle testing), Flower Essences, Aromatherapy, Oracles, Crystals, Reiki, massage techniques, unwinding, and more.
The Energy Balance may be used for something as simple as an "off" feeling day that you wish to balance out. It is a great method to use for breaking old patterns and negative self talk that you wish to stop. It possibly shines best when used as a form of group family counseling especially with a couple who is attempting to blend two families of teens or pre-teens. Children do not have to "talk" to participate in these sessions.
The session starts with the forming of a goal for the energy to be balanced. This may be an emotional issue or physical complaint. Once the goal is set the balance may begin. Plan on your session lasting one to two hours. The average is 90 minutes. Simple issues may take only one session. A series of sessions is usually recommended.
CranioSacral Therapy
What Conditions Does CranioSacral Therapy Address?
CranioSacral Therapy strengthens your body's ability to take better care of you. It helps alleviate a range of illness, pain, and dysfunction, including:
- Migraines and Headaches
- Chronic Neck and Back Pain
- Motor-Coordination Impairments
- Stress and Tension-Related Problems
- Infantile Disorders
- Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
- Chronic Fatigue
- Scoliosis
- Central Nervous System Disorders
- Emotional Difficulties
- Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
- Learning Disabilities
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Orthopedic Problems
- And Many Other Conditions
How is CranioSacral Therapy Performed?
CranioSacral Therapy is performed on a person fully clothed. Using a light touch — generally no more than the weight of a nickel — the practitioner monitors the rhythm of the craniosacral system to detect potential restrictions and imbalances. The therapist then uses delicate manual techniques to release those problem areas and relieve undue pressure on the brain and spinal cord.
A CranioSacral Therapy session can last from about 15 minutes to more than an hour, and it can be used alone or in conjunction with other therapeutic procedures.
The result? A central nervous system free of restrictions. And a body that's able to return to its greatest levels of performance.
Lymph Drainage Therapy
A Hidden Key to Health and Longevity
The proper functioning of the lymphatic system is critical to our body's ability to drain stagnant fluids, detoxify, regenerate tissues, filter out toxins and foreign substances, and maintain a healthy immune system. It is a complex system comprised primarily of lymph vessels and nodes working in cooperation to accomplish these tasks.
Unlike the circulatory system, which uses the pumping of the heart to circulate its blood flow, lymph vessels rely upon hundreds of tiny muscular units (lymphangions) contracting throughout the body to propel lymph flow. These contractions enable the lymph vessels to transport numerous substances to lymph nodes, which can then process them. The action of these muscular units can be hindered or stopped, however, due to surgery, trauma, burns, infections, substantial swelling, fatigue, stress, or age. When the lymph circulation stagnates, fluids, proteins, cells, and toxins accumulate, and cellular functioning is significantly compromised. This may open the way to many physical ailments and hasten the aging process.
Lymphatic drainage is a hands-on technique designed to attain and sustain proper functioning of the human fluid system. Over the years, the methods have been honed, refined, and expanded. Today lymphatic drainage techniques are employed as standard scientific practice throughout Europe and continue to gain recognition in the United States.
Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT) takes traditional lymph drainage techniques and adds a new level of precision in keeping with the latest scientific discoveries and exact anatomical science. LDT enables practitioners to detect the specific rhythm, direction, depth, and quality of the lymphatic flow. As a result, therapists can achieve profound, more precise outcomes in shorter periods of time. For clients, the process is very pleasurable and induces deep states of relaxation.
Due to the nature and role of the lymphatic system, LDT can prove beneficial in the correction of numerous conditions as well as in preventive health maintenance In essence, LDT works to help recirculate body fluids, stimulate functioning of the immune system, and promote a state of relaxation and balance within the autonomic nervous system.

Dancing
Most of us acknowledge that regular physical activity in general can help keep our bodies healthy as we age. Dancing can be a great mind-body workout. Dancing can help:
- reduce stress and tension
- tone your entire body
- increase energy
- increase muscle tone and coordination
- improve your posture and balance, which can prevent falls
- increase your stamina and flexibility
- lower the risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, osteoporosis, and depression
- manage weight
- strengthen bones and muscles without hurting your joints (dance is a weight-bearing activity, which builds bones)
- build confidence
- provide opportunities to meet people
Dancing that requires you to remember dance steps and sequences boosts brain power by improving memory skills. A 21 year study published in the June 19, 2003, issue of the New England Journal of Medicine found that ballroom dancing at least twice a week made people less likely to develop dementia. Ballroom dancing was the only physical activity in the study that appeared to be associated with a reduced risk of developing dementia. Research also has shown that some people with Alzheimer's disease are able to recall forgotten memories when they dance to music they used to know.
Dancing is a unique form of exercise because it provides the healthy benefits of aerobic exercise while also allowing you to engage in a social activity. The physical aspect of dancing increases blood flow to the brain. The social aspect of the activity leads to less stress, depression, and loneliness. Dancing requires memorizing steps and working with a partner, both of which provide mental challenges that are crucial for brain health. Dancing may help you to be both intellectually stimulated and physically active.
Reflexology
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is the physical act of applying pressure to the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques. The theory behind reflexology is that there are "reflex points" that correspond with specific organs and glands in the body. It is believed that stimulating those "reflex points" can promote health in that organ via the body's energetic pathways.
What are the Benefits of Reflexology?
Reflexology is an alternative therapy that helps to relieve many health problems in a natural, non-invasive manner. It promotes relaxation, improves circulation, reduces pain, soothes tired feet, and encourages overall healing. It can help in many ways, such as: Stress, Tension headaches, Digestive disorders, PMS, insomnia to name a few. Reflexology is recommended as a complementary therapy and should not replace medical treatment.
