NSP People

When Gene Hughes found himself with an aggravating stomach condition, he took a friend's advice and began taking cayenne pepper by the spoonful. It helped his stomach, but swallowing cayenne was downright painful. Then his wife, Kristine, suggested putting the powder inside gelatin capsules. Those cayenne pepper capsules were the first encapsulated herbs, and the Hughes soon realized that other people could benefit from what they discovered. Gene and Kristine quickly enlisted the help of Dick and Pauline Hughes and other family members. Over 30 years later, founders Gene, Kristine, and Pauline still take active roles in the company.
