Tammy is dedicated to healing her community and sharing with others what she has learned in her quest for
knowledge of natural healing over the years.
Available to the general public, and by doctor referral for insurance-billed medical services, Tammy
specializes in Deep Structural Integrative Bodywork, including Mayan and Chinese Medicine, Medical Massage,
HypnoTherapy, Shamanic Journeying, and teaching her specialties at
RoseSprings Center for the Healing Arts,
a wonderful community of massage therapists, energy healers, acupuncturists, naturopathic and chiropractic
physicians in Hillsboro, Oregon.
Her Wellness services start at $65/30-minutes, or $95/hour. Medical services are billed at OWCD fee allowances.
Tammy understands your stress. She was a paralegal for nearly 20 years working in a number of high-stress specialty fields in Portland, Oregon, including personal injury, professional and product liability, insurance law, and legislative process. For something "fun" to do during her paralegal years, she studied ancient cultures and anthropology at Portland State University, specifically the Maya culture and its traditional medicine, with a number of field studies in the Yucatan and South America studying with Maya Shamans, and earned her first Master of Science degree in Anthropology in 1991 with her passion for ancient wisdom.
Facing a life-threatening illness in the early 1990s, Tammy was blessed with the healing services of Reiki, Massage and Hypnotherapy, and passionately believes these non-insured, out-of-pocket miracles of healing "literally saved my life!" She was so intrigued with the work and its miraculous healing nature, she had to know more. She took her First Degree Reiki class in 1993, and her life began to change. She was intrigued with her massage therapist's lifestyle and independence as a business owner in private practice, and relished the idea of how wonderful life would be if she could dedicate hers to making people feel as wonderful as she felt after treatments, and in assisting people in their natural healing abilities to recover from illness and injuries as she had.
Enjoying a full recovery in a much healthier and comfortable body, Tammy was convinced the life change from stressful paralegal to massage therapist was the right path for her. She received her massage therapy training at East-West College of the Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon, passed the Oregon State Board examinations as a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) in the summer of 1995, and graduated from East-West in December 1995 with a full year elective in Hypnotherapy.
By the time she had graduated from massage school, she already had a great clientele base as the official massage therapist for the Portland Opera, providing seated massage at rehearsals to outcall services for the traveling singers and staff. In February of 1996, she began providing massage therapy in a medical Pain Clinic, and added Medical Massage to her services, which began a whole new focus in her career and continuing education. Within months, her Medical Massage practice grew to full time.
Tammy continued her post-graduate education in a variety of specialized bodywork and hypnotherapy systems and techniques, and earned her second Master of Arts and Science degree in 1997 from the American Academy of Clinical Hypnosis.
In 1999, she earned her Reiki Master Degree, and realized a life-long dream due to her practice success - she lived in China while studying at the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and interned at a Shanghai hospital in the pediatric department providing massage therapy to infants and children. She later returned to the Yucatan to again study traditional Mayan medicine with a doctor she met and befriended while studying in China, who introduced her to a dozen more Maya Shamans practicing in a number of traditional medical specialties whom Tammy had the pleasure of apprenticing with, relating and applying her passion for of Mayan traditions and medicine to her practice.
In addition to Mayan and Chinese Medicine, Tammy has also studied traditional Tibetan, Ayurvedic (Indian), Russian, Fijian, Hawaiian, Reflexology and other medical bodywork traditions; as well as Western systems such as Myopractic (R), Myokinesthetics(R), Rolfing, Trager, Sports, Acutonics, Upledger's CranioSacral, Visceral, and much more. With her thirst for knowledge and underlying life-long passion for spiritual understanding, she completed her doctorate in theology in December of 2003 with the American College of Metaphysical Theology in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
