Jan Duncan, MA, Counselor, Registered Intern

Are you having difficulty reintegrating back into your community after military service or imprisonment? Are there current behaviors or attitudes that you want to change? Are you struggling with family or parenting issues? If so, schedule a free consultation with Jan to see if she can assist you.

Jan works from the Following Perspectives:

Strengths-Based
A strengths based approach operates on the assumption that you have many different strengths and resources that you can draw upon in times of need for their own empowerment.
Solutions-Focused
Sessions are centered on a client's present and desired future. You will be asked to utilize your strengths in order to make behavioral or attitudinal changes in order to move toward your desired future.
Systemic
You are part of a larger system (family, work, community) and your behavior can often affect other parts of your system. We will look at your desired changes and examine how they might affect those around you.
Interpersonal Neurobiology
This is a fancy way of saying that your brain and body stores memories memories that can affect how we attach and relate to others.

Jan's specialties include:

Reintegration
Many individuals or families that have been separated by military service or incarceration often need assistance with separating from or reintegrating back into their families, work, and community.
Trauma Recovery
Trauma issues that keep one separated from self, family and community.
Marriage and Family
Parents who want to change their discipline techniques, improve attachment bonds with their children, or reunite after separation.
