This Could be the First Day of the Rest of Your Life
Debbie Dehler, Personal Fitness Trainer
When I met "Suzie" over a year ago her health had been declining for several years and she had repeated failed attempts at dieting and exercise. It came to a point where she had almost given up hope of ever being healthy again and nearly resigned herself to an early grave. Then a clear small voice reminded her of her love for her youngest son and wanting to be around for him; to see him graduate from high school, college and even get married. This is what she hung on to over the next 7 months while getting her Doctor's clearance and medications adjusted. We were now ready to start the real work of living a fuller, longer life with exercise and diet.
My coaching and consulting style meets clients at their current level and helps them set realistic goals for the future. "Suzie" has lost nearly 70 lbs. and though her exercise program is limited by her health issues, she hasn't given up and continues to make progress. She is finding day to day activities like getting out of bed or taking a shower without help and walking to and from her car, which most of us take for granted, has been resolved. "Suzie" hasn't reached her long term goals yet, but she will one step at a time. I have no doubt.
