Sound Healing

Ira Dressner, PCC, Ph.D., Spiritual Coach

The Sound Healing Training on June 7 and 8 will allow practitioners to gain essential knowledge for yourself and your clients. Each one of us has parts; a vulnerable part, a strong part, an angry part, a creative part, etc. Do you know how to create a team from these parts that is effective in your life? Learn to use singing bowls and other instruments to heal.

There are three trainings. The Level One Training focuses on learning about your own parts and the parts of others. We will practice clearing a room and space using the Tincha. We also learn how to incorporate the chakras into the process. Additionally, you will work in dyads and by the end of Level 1 you will be masterful with the bowls. There will be demonstrations about parts and how to use the bowls and other vibration instruments to take away body pain.

During the Level Two Training we will review your understanding of parts and working with others and clients and you will learn about the important concept of the Mixed Multitude. The Mixed Multitude is the location and interaction of all the parts and the importance of the Mixed Multitude is that when you can manage your parts, you can manage your life. The second new learning concept is the split screen which will be explained in detail.

During the Level Three Training you will be taught how to lead the first two trainings and have a license to give the trainings on your own.

What the Bowls are:

The bowls have been used in many traditions, though the exact ritual context is often obscure. However, the use of bells, cymbals, bowls, didgeridoos, and similar instruments in meditative practices are common, and it is probable that the singing bowls were used in a similar manner. Both Buddhism and Hinduism include ideas of the role of sound and vibration in trance and transformation, as do other religions. The notion that sound and vibration affect consciousness is also widespread and certain sounds are used as form of healing and vibration medicine in many cultures, especially when someone is seen as out of balance or having lost his natural internal rhythm. The bowls are used to form a subtle energy field that can be used for anxiety, stress, and ADHD.

Today, singing bowls are most often used as meditation aids. A person uses them individually or in a group. The bowls are great assistance in finding parts and the method of guiding and coaching which is called the mixed multitude. Holistic healers when using the bowls properly can set up a subtle energy field and take away people's physical pain and anxiety and put a person in a tranquil, meditative state. As a spiritual coach and guide, I work with taking away physical pain, pain of the heart and pain of the spirit.

Singing Bowls and Anxiety

Many adults suffer with unwanted anxiety and anxiety disorders. There have been some studies that assert that many children and adults who have ADHD as well as other problems have some type of anxiety disorder. This disorder can show itself with anxious feeling without knowing the reason. A person might have an exaggerated tension in the body and worry. There are physical symptoms such as headaches, body tension, nausea, irritability, neck aches, and back aches and difficulty sleeping. In addition anxiety adds to difficulty in focusing, concentration and can lead to distractibility.

What I have personally seen watching the persons brain waves of a person, is that in using the bowl one can see that a person who is anxious has brain waves called high beta and that after using the bowl the brain waves go back down to either beta or alpha.

Using the Tibetan/Crystal Bowls can reduce high beta and reduce anxiety without medication. This will be demonstrated in the Level 1 Training.

Tibetan/Crystal Singing bowls are an important tool in many professional endeavors. They are used by massage therapists, Reiki trained professional, mental health workers, human relations, trainers, etc.

The bowls can be used as a way to calm a client down either in person or on the phone. The bowl can help you access the Client's anxious part, calm the anxiety, and allow your interaction to be more viable. The bowl is also used with the mixed multitude to of the client and assists in integrating the conflicting parts so that the client has a vision, mission and a plan. Since the conflicted part is only one part among many, using the bowl with the mixed multitude can achieve a form of integration and can be done through coaching.

Bowls can be used either on the phone or in person to work with people who are pre-occupied, anxious, or not focused. The music of the bowl can calm the mind and allow the client of focus on where they need to focus their energy to achieve what they want.

Bowls can also be used to enhance one's spirituality. One can better look within and view ones spirituality or belief in god/higher power and feel it much deeper through the use of the bowl.
